The German Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) is an innovative immigration pathway that gives skilled professionals from non-EU countries the opportunity to live in Germany for up to 12 months while searching for employment—without the need for a pre-arranged job offer.

Designed to attract global talent, the Opportunity Card allows eligible applicants to work part-time, participate in trial employment with potential employers, and seamlessly transition to a German Work Visa or EU Blue Card once they secure qualified employment. It also provides access to Germany’s world-class healthcare, education, social security system, and offers a clear pathway to permanent residency. Eligible spouses and children may also join applicants through Germany’s family reunification programme.
